Introduction

Due to their special technical properties, UHPC materials of very high quality are particularly suitable for the construction of safety-relevant buildings and special military constructions. The requirements are usually extremely high to withstand the practical loads. Our HPC and UHPC materials are also superior to all standard construction materials in terms of constructional protection against natural disasters and are much better at protecting human lives and building structures. Our HPC and UHPC materials are repeatedly tested for their resistance.

With HPC and UHPC solutions, even existing structures can be effectively protected.

WPE-DK Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) is a high strength ductile material consisting of a combination of cement, silica fume, high performance water thinner, water and steel or organic fibres. The Dia UHPC binder system offers compressive strengths from 80 MPa to 300 MPa / 43500 psi and flexural strengths up to 40 MPa / 5800 psi.

WPE-DK produces Dia binder systems as grout binder, mortar binder and shotcrete binder. We manufacture all our binder systems as two-component systems.
For most WPE-DK UHPC dia binder systems the mixing ratio is: 1 part binder : 1 part aggregate.

UHPC Dia cast Binder systeme are used in combination with special reinforcement systems, ceramic and metallic aggregates and ceramic or metallic fibre systems in the construction of safes / vaults and security rooms with very high protection quality. One of the many advantages of UHPC Dia-Binder systems is the extreme bond between reinforcing steel, all types of fibres and all types of aggregates. The ductile behaviour of our UHPC Dia Binder systeme is a novelty for concrete, with the ability to deform and absorb bending and tensile loads even after internal cracking.

Subsequent installation
UHPC Dia concrete can be used to make prefabricated elements to protect building structures. This can be done both inside and outside the building.

Internal building protection includes security rooms, safes, protection of building supports against explosion, fire and heavy vehicle attacks.

Exterior building protection includes ram barriers, perimeter protection walls and façade systems designed to provide security against firearms and explosives attacks.

WPE-DK is the world's only manufacturer of high temperature resistant UHPC HT truss systems. UHPC HT binders can be used at a maximum temperature of 1,200°C /2192°F.
UHPC HT material can be installed as:

  • Full cladding: Layer thicknesses between 20 - 100 mm, depending on the application, are standard. Full cladding requires a heat resistant anchoring system. Full cladding has no thermal insulating effect.
  • Combined lining: In most cases, UHPC HT is combined with a special, extremely thin but highly effective insulation material.
  • Prefabricated element lining: Prefabricated elements can consist of solid UHPC HT material or a combination system of UHPC HT and insulation.

When steel structures are exposed to extreme temperatures as a result of fire, they quickly lose their strength or load-bearing capacity and dangerous situations can arise. Structures made of high-temperature resistant UHPC HT lose little of their strength and thus maintain the load-bearing capacity of the structure even in the case of long-lasting fires.

Another advantage of our UHPC concretes is the high density of the material, which makes it essentially impermeable to water and chloride, giving the material exceptionally long durability and corrosion resistance. WPE-DK UHPC concretes can be used as a corrosion protection layer for existing concrete or steel structures or as a load-bearing element for new structures on or in salt water.

The UHPC floor systems UHPC Phalt and UHPC TopLayer are extremely resistant to any mechanical loads and chemical attacks. UHPC Phalt, a combination system of UHPC mortar and asphalt, is the natural choice for overcoming challenges such as high point loads, rutting due to constant driving on the same stretches, as it combines the flexible and jointless asphalt with the excellent load-bearing capacity and high wear resistance of the UHPC mortar.
